You can help celebrate the birthday of the Laxey Wheel today (Sunday).
Manx National Heritage is hosting an activity day to mark the opening of the attraction.
There will be guided walks throughout the day, a children’s discovery trail, a photographic display of Laxey, watercolour workshops with the opportunity to create your own painting of the Laxey Wheel and a chance to ride the Laxey Mines Railway.
Designed by the Victorian engineer, Robert Casement, the Laxey Wheel was built in 1854 to pump water from the Great Laxey lead mines.
The ‘Lady Isabella’ survived largely through the efforts of Laxey builder Edwin Kneale, who acquired the wheel to save it from being scrapped.
Public services manager for MNH Howard Parkin says there'll be plenty going on.
