The Department of Health and Social Security (DHSS) has announced the next step in its preparations for a new GP surgery and Health & Community Centre at Jurby.
The Department unveiled its plans at a public presentation organised by kind permission of Jurby Commissioners, held at the Jurby Parish Hall.
Local residents were given the opportunity to inspect the plans, hear presentations from the Minister for the DHSS, Eddie Teare MHK, and from the team responsible for the project, and ask questions.
The purpose-built new centre will include not only a modern GP surgery but also community health facilities and space to enable the reallocation of community facilities from the current centre at Earroo Nane.
Work on the Centre is scheduled to start in early 2010 and reach completion in early 2011.
The Minister said, "This is a very important development which has been a long time in planning with several Government Departments and the Commissioners as well as my own Department.
"This is a major investment in the long-term future of Jurby and the North of the Island and I am delighted that we have now reached the stage where we can fully involve local people."
