Cancer organisations stage awareness day

by isleofman.com 25th September 2009

A cancer awareness day is being held at the Henry Bloom Noble Library in Douglas today.

The aims are to raise awareness of how lifestyle choices can contribute to reducing the risk of cancer, and to help people recognise the signs and symptoms as an aid to early detection.

Local organisations participating include the Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association, Manx Cancer Help, Quit4You and Bowel Cancer Isle of Man.

Displays will be manned by DHSS staff from a range of departments, including health visiting, district nursing, health promotion and general practice.

Light refreshments will be served and the winner of a cancer awareness quiz will take home a basket of fruit.
