Mayoress charity prepares to open its first premises

Arthritis Care Ellan Vannin says the money it will receive from this year's Mayoress's Charity Appeal will be put to extremely good use.

The organisation is set to open its first permanent base, at premises in Union Mills, before the end of the year, and says the extra funds couldn't have been promised at a better time.

Committee member Amanda Kelly says efforts are continuing to try and raise the profile of the organisation, and help more of the Island's estimated 2,000 arthritis sufferers.

The plan is to provide specialist arthritis training for people in professional services, such as care homes and the DHSS:
