Mayoress's Charity Appeal launched

The Mayoress of Douglas, Shirley Wilson, has launched her fund raising drive for the current municipal year.

The two main charities to benefit will be the Island's hyperbaric chamber and Arthritis Care Ellan Vannin, although it's likely funds will be distributed to other worthy causes as well.

Last year the Mayoress's charity, presided over by the Mayor, Dot Pitts, raised over ?30,000.

Committee member for the current year, Carol Malarkey, is hoping for another successful twelve months:
