Powerboat chiefs delighted with season climax

Organisers have been expressing their delight after a dramatic end to the 2009 Honda Formula 4 Stroke Association Powerboat Championship here at the weekend.

The final rounds of the Isle of Man Grand Prix in Douglas Bay produced the closest ever finishes in the series.

In the 225bhp class, Miss Toft clinched the title by a point from Team Williams.

In the final race of the class, they finished second behind Heights of Abraham and ahead of third placed Double Six, which was enough for Miss Toft to take the honours.

It was equally as close in the 150bhp class where reigning champions Hydrex missed out by a point on retaining their title – despite winning both Sunday’s races.

They saw off the all-girl team of Eclipse and Octane in the opener before finishing ahead of Octane and Team Williams in the second race.

However, Premier Cru took their crown.
