A further update of the conditon of Manx cyclist Jonny Bellis is expected this afternoon.
The 21-year-old was hospitalised after a scooter accident in Italy near the British training base in Quarrata on Friday night and was taken to the CTO hospital in Florence.
Jonny was initially described as critical, with a statement from his Saxo Bank team saying he was in a coma.
That status was then upgraded to stable.
Saxo Bank team owner Bjarne Riis said, "We are saddened by the news of Jonathan's accident, but we know that he is in good hands at the hospital in Florence. Our thoughts and hopes go out to Jonathan, his family and friends".
Bellis was due to compete for Great Britain in the World Road Cycling Championships this week in the Elite Men's Road Race alongside Mark Cavendish.
British Cycling performance director Dave Brailsford said: "All our focus and attention right now is on Jonny and his family and ensuring that they are looked after and given the best possible care at this time."
