Police rescue man from sea

by isleofman.com 20th September 2009

A 20 year-old man had to be rescued by police from the sea on Central Prom in Douglas in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

Emergency services were contacted at 3.20am as the man was in deep water and couldn’t stand up nor swim properly.

Other emergency services were ‘scrambled’ but, due to the immediacy of the situation, the man had to be rescued by police swimming out and performing life saving technique.

The man was around 60 metres from the shoreline and was taken to Nobles Hospital and kept in for observation overnight.

Police are thanking emergency services and members of the public who alerted them to the situation.
