Last Call for Passengers to the Summit!

by isleofman.com 18th September 2009

With the fine weather expected this weekend, the Department of Tourism and Leisure is reminding people that there is still time to take a trip to the summit of Snaefell - and you won't even need your hiking boots.

The Snaefell Mountain Railway closes for the season on Sunday 27th September but until then, passengers can still travel to the top of Snaefell, take in breathtaking views and enjoy refreshments at 20,000 feet - in the Summit Hotel cafe.

Laxey is the starting point for the Snaefell Mountain Railway, a unique Victorian system constructed in 1895.

There will be regular departures every 30 minutes from Laxey Station between 10.15am and 3.45pm (last guaranteed ascent).

The journey time is approximately 30 minutes each way.

For those who have the time, why not make day of it by travelling from Douglas to Ramsey on the Manx Electric Railway, stopping at Laxey for the ascent to Snaefell.
