Douglas men face drugs charges

by isleofman.com 18th September 2009

Two local men charged with serious drugs offences have been remanded in custody by High Bailiff Michael Moyle.

Forty-seven-year-old Michael Dunning, from Pulrose, and 24-year-old Andrew Paul Cooney, of Victoria Terrace, appeared in court today.

Mr Dunning is accused of possessing and supplying a class A drug and possession with intent to supply.

He's also charged with possessing cannabis.

He and Mr Cooney both face two further charges of possessing cocaine with intent to supply and Mr Cooney is also accused of money laundering.

Both men were in the dock for a short time, flanked by security guards, as their advocates made applications for legal aid.

Mr Moyle granted it as Mr Cooney is unemployed, and he accepted Mr Dunning, though currently working, may not be able to hold onto his job.

They are both due to appear again at 9.30 on Tuesday morning via video link from Jurby Prison.
