Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to a fatal road accident last night.

They say a 40 year-old motorcyclist from Douglas, who hasn't been named, died in a head on collision with a car, at the junction between Ballaquayle Road and Woodbourne Road.

The accident happened at around 9.05pm.

Both vehicles, a Suzuki GSXR 750 bike and a Jeep Cherokee, were travelling on Ballaquayle Road at the time of the crash.

Police closed the immediate area for about seven hours while they investigated the incident.

Anyone who saw the crash, or either of the vehicles before it happened, is asked to ring the Road Policing Unit at Police Headquarters on 631212.
