Sure Manager Will Keep On Running for Crowe and Cox

by isleofman.com 16th September 2009

Sure’s Isle of Man Country Manager is making his final preparations for the Great North Run this weekend, in which he is taking part, along with son Will, to raise money for TT stars Nick Crowe and Mark Cox.

Mike and Will (19) will take part in the BUPA Great North Run in Gateshead on Sunday (20th September 2009) with all money raised going to a fund set up for the sidecar racers.

Nick and Mark, who are both sponsored by the telecoms company, suffered severe injuries in an accident at Ballacob during TT Sidecar Race B in June. Both remain in a very serious condition under hospital care.

The BUPA Great North Run covers a distance of 13.1 miles. This year more than 52,000 people will take part.

Mike is an experienced runner.  However, this is the first time he has chosen to take part in an event to raise money for charity.

He comments, "The team here at Sure are devastated by the injuries suffered by Nick and Mark in TT Sidecar Race B, particularly so because they are sponsored by Sure and we know them both personally.

“Although they are on the road to recovery, it is going to be an incredibly long journey for both of them.

"They need a lot of support during this period, which is why myself and Will have decided to dedicate our Great North Run this year to raise money for them.

“On behalf of everyone at Sure, I would like to take this opportunity to wish Nick and Mark the best of luck with their recovery.

"Our thoughts and good wishes are with them at this very difficult time.”

If anyone would like to sponsor Mike and Will in the Great North Run, donations can be made via PayPal.

Log onto www.paypal.co.uk and type in the email address nickcrowefundraising@manx.net.

Please note that all donations should be marked as a ‘gift’ otherwise the fund will be charged.

More About the 'Great' Challenges

The Great North Run, established in 198, is often described as the world's most popular half-marathon.  On the back of its success, the organisers launched a series of further 'Great Runs', a 'Great Walk' and 'Great Swims'
