The 2009 book of the Tell Me Project, an inter-generational education initiative, is now in preparation.
Out of the 117 interviews uploaded to the project’s website and categorised by the AXA Isle of Man moderators, 58 have been selected for the book.
The book's editor is project mastermind Professor Hugh Davidson, who says, "The quality of interviews is, once again, very high.
"This year’s book builds on the success of the 2008 issue, the main difference being that the contents will be arranged by topic, namely World War Two - home and away, farming, health and medicine, early days, and community life.
"There will also be a section devoted to the Guides and another to interviews with James Toseland conducted by students from Ramsey Grammar School.
"And to bring the book to life we’ve been able to incorporate a wealth of photographs, some from Tell Me events, others kindly provided by interviewees, but we would always welcome more images.
"For consistency and to reinforce the Tell Me brand the look of the book will be largely the same, but each year we’ll be using a different colour, this year’s being red.
"Thanks to the support of teachers, pupils, co-sponsors AXA Isle of Man and core partners the Tell Me Project continues to grow in stature, attracting interest from the UK and further afield. Moreover the project demonstrates how effectively the Freedom to Flourish strategy connects with so many sectors of the Isle of Man community."
The Tell Me Project 2009 book will be launched on Monday 19th October.
Professor Davidson adds, "The book will be available in most local bookshops, priced ?10, and makes an excellent Christmas present, especially for older people.
"But buy early, because last year’s Tell Me Project book was sold out in most shops well before Christmas."
