Chief Minister Tony Brown has congratulated 'a true Manx hero' who was honoured with the Military Cross at the weekend.
Lieutenant James Adamson, a former pupil at Ramsey Grammar School, was awarded the medal after charging a Taliban fighter with his bayonet after he ran out of ammunition.
According to the army citation, his actions under fire in Helmand province saved the lives of the men under his command in his platoon.
