It's the first ever worldwide Plastic Bag Free Day, and residents of the Isle of Man are being urged to play their part!
Everybody is being encouraged to refuse plastic bags and take reusable ones when they go shopping.
The initiative is being coordinated by the Marine Conservation Society and is supported by the local environmental group Zero Waste Mann, which runs the Green Centre under the Chester Street Car Park in Douglas.
Volunteers from the group will be in the nearby Strand Centre today handing out reusable cloth bags in return for plastic ones.
It's estimated the Island imports around five million plastic bags a year, and environmentalists say they can be lethal for many sea creatures.
