by isleofman.com 10th September 2009

Sentence on a 38-year-old benefits cheat has been adjourned for reports.

Norman Daniel Alexander, of Lheannag Park in Douglas, admitted six charges of making false statements to obtain benefits from the DHSS.

The prosecution said Alexander was claiming a jobseeker's allowance, but didn't tell the department he was working and was given over ?6,000 he wasn't entitled to.

High Bailiff Michael Moyle warned Alexander custody was very likely in view of the large amount involved.

He was been bailed until September 29.
