Inquests on motorcyclists

by isleofman.com 10th September 2009

Inquests open today into the deaths of a Manx Grand Prix competitor and a well-known musician.

Newcomer Richard Bartlett, a 38-year-old engineer from Kent, was making his MGP debut when he was fatally injured in an accident near Kerrowmooar a fortnight ago.

Classic motorcycle enthusiast and musician Jake Drake-Brockman, who was on the Island for the MGP, was killed when his classic bike was involved in a collision with a converted ambulance, near Kirk Michael last week.

The 53-year-old from Bristol was a former member of the rockband Echo and the Bunnymen.

The inquests will be conducted by coroner Michael Moyle, at Douglas Courthouse.
