Ramsey police station is open again this morning (Tuesday) after an old hand grenade was handed in to the station last night leading to its closure.
Following expert advice and following usual practice, the grenade was left in the building whilst authorities were contacted but it was decided to evacuate the station.
A temporary police station was set up in a van outside the Ramsey station and phone calls were diverted to police headquarters.
At aaround 10.30am, a search team adviser, in liaison with experts in the UK, declared the grenade safe and the police station was re-opened.
Inspector Derek Flint is thanking all parties involved and says he hopes the public weren't too inconvenienced.
He's also issued a timely reminder as to what members of the public should do if they believe they've found any kind of old ordnance.
