What's believed to be a small explosive device was handed in to Ramsey police station last night (Monday).
The station has been closed this morning (Tues) whilst the device is made safe.
Inspector Derek Flint says following their usual practice, the device has remained in the station and, after taking expert advice on the matter, it was decided to evacuate the station.
A temporary police station has been set up nearby and officers will work from there until the situation is resolved.
Inspector Flint is stressing the advice they have received is that there is no risk to the public or surrounding properties.
The Northern Neighbourhood Community Partnership meeting which was due to take place at 11am this morning has been cancelled.
Officers are apologising for the inconvenience but say safety has to be a priority.
The next meeting will be at 11am on Tuesday, October 6.
