Meeting for Private Music Teachers

by isleofman.com 7th September 2009

Private music teachers around the Island are being invited to attend a free information evening run by the Department of Education’s Music Service.

The gathering, which takes place on Thursday 17th September, will give teachers the chance to find out about new exam requirements.

All private teachers of students who are preparing for the performance modules of GCSE, AS and A2 Music exams are welcome to attend to find out about the new requirements, which will be effective from the summer 2010 cohort (teaching from September 2009).

The requirements of both the AQA and OCR exam boards will be covered.

The gathering is also a chance to meet other private music teachers and teachers from the secondary schools and to view the Music Centre's resources.

Maggie Richardson, Head of Music Service, said, "We have many excellent private music teachers throughout the Island but they aren’t always kept up to date with what their students need to do to gain the best possible marks in their school music exams.

"Private teaching can be a little isolating at times. I hope the evening will be beneficial to schools’ music departments, all the teachers and ultimately students themselves."

The meeting takes place at 7pm on Thursday 17th September at the Department's Music Centre on Lord Street, in Douglas.

If you wish to attend, please call 686555 to book your place.
