Heavy rain leads to busy night for emergency crews

by isleofman.com 3rd September 2009

Fire crews from Castletown and Port Erin tackled flooding in the south of the Island in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The incidents were on the Ballamodha, the Surby Road and in Malew Street, Castletown with the fire service taking calls between 1.15 and 3.45am.

Among other things, crews dealt with a flooded kitchen, water flowing back through a toilet and approximately half a metre of water under a floor.

They used pumping appliances to reduce water levels, and cleared drains.
