A 25-year-old man who admitted a string of alcohol and motoring related offences has been sent to prison for nine months by High Bailiff Michael Moyle.
Craig William Tiernan, of Ronague Road in Arbory, admitted being drunk and disorderly, dangerous driving, drink driving, taking a car without consent, driving while disqualified and damaging property.
The court heard Tiernan damaged a smoking shelter in Port Erin on March 28, and was drunk and disorderly at the Outback nightclub a month later.
Less than four weeks after that, he was arrested by police who had spotted him driving from Laxey to Onchan.
Officers saw Tiernan swerving and veering across the road, travelling down Groudle Road on the wrong side, and driving the wrong way up a one-way street.
He abandoned the car in Onchan but was later located and arrested by officers who found he had consumed twice the legal limit of alcohol.
Tiernan’s advocate said he accepted alcohol was his downfall, and intended to change his ways after serving his sentence.
He was also banned him from driving for five years.
