Ramsey's OCRA Golf Day is Hit for Hospice

by isleofman.com 28th August 2009

The money was raised at the OCRA Millennium Trophy golf day and dinner sponsored by the Ramsey-based corporate services provider and held at the golf club on Saturday 20th June.

The event attracted more than 150 players and 120 guests at the sell-out dinner.

Stephen Porter, Ramsey Golf Club captain and OCRA group director said: ‘OCRA has sponsored the Millennium Trophy since 2000 but this was the inaugural year of our sponsoring both the competition and the dinner.

"This was very much a community event which, despite the current challenging economic climate, saw leading finance and business sector organisations, together with local traders in Ramsey contributing not only financial support but also donating generous prizes for the tombola."

Among those who supported the event with donations and/or prizes were Corbridge Advocates, Dougherty Quinn, Moore Stephens, People Dimensions and Office Machines.

Mr Porter continued, "Although it fell on the same day as the Parish Walk the event was extremely well attended and proved so successful that OCRA has decided to hold it annually to help further the magnificent work of Hospice Isle of Man."

In addition to raising more than ?6000 for Hospice Isle of Man, Ramsey Golf Club held three other competitions where the proceeds have gone to the Isle of Man Anti-Cancer appeal. Mr Porter added: "A big thanks in this regard to Manx Telecom, Mrs. Greenhill, George Valor and Gough Electrical."
