Pupils at King William's College have been celebrating after achieving an impressive set of GCSE results.
For the second year running, one pupil has gained a superb result of all A* grades. Catriona Cox, who is 16 years old and from Santon, attended St Thomas's Primary School in Douglas and joined King William's College at the age of 11, is delighted with her ten A* grades, and is looking forward to starting the International Baccalaureate next month.
Catriona has been awarded a combined Academic and Sports Scholarship for the Sixth Form at King William's College due to her all round achievements, both inside and outside the classroom.
She is very gifted on the sports field, representing the Isle of Man in hockey, rounders and cross-country running, and also an accomplished horse rider. Catriona hopes to study veterinary medicine at university in two years' time.
Overall, 60 candidates sat their GCSE examinations at King William's College in a total of 24 different subjects. 95% gained 5 or more A*-C grades, and 36% of all grades were either A or A*.
Dr Sarah Welch, Principal of King William’s College, congratulated the pupils on their achievement, "I am delighted that all of their hard work has secured them excellent results.
"It is particularly pleasing that our pupils have performed so well in such a wide range of subjects. Their breadth of knowledge and skills will help them flourish in their future studies and careers.
"I am grateful to my teaching staff for their dedication to helping all of our pupils achieve their potential."
