The Isle of Man Government is pushing ahead with social housing developments and first-time buyer houses in the face of the recession.

That's the mesage from member with responsibility for housing, Tim Crookall MHK.

Whilst the construction industry in the UK is suffering heavily from the effects of the global recession, the Isle of Man is pressing on with schemes to improve the availability of affordable housing and local government properties.

At a turf cutting ceremony to initiate a first time buyers development at Cronk Grianagh, Braddan, Mr Crookall reaffirmed the Government's committment to providing affordable housing.
