The first sod is set to be cut at another first-time buyer development in the Isle of Man today (Thursday).
Tim Crookall MHK, member for the Department of Local Government and the Environment with responsibility for housing, will do the honours on land provided by the Department of Health and Social Security at Cronk Grianagh, Braddan.
The development includes 16 homes and a small residential unit for the DHSS.
Mr Crookall says this is the second time he's been asked in recent weeks to use a spade in his capacity as member in the department, following on from the start of the first-time buyer scheme at Archallagan Terrace in Foxdale.
Currently, there are some 58 first-time buyer houses and 145 public sector properties being built on the Island to meet affordable housing requirements.
Mr Crookall says the department is looking into bringing forward other opportunities for affordable housing and is in discussions with developers, contractors and landowners.
