Depositors in the collapsed Kaupthing bank in the Isle of Man have been told their first payment from the liquidator will be much higher than expected.
They were expecting around 14.5p in the pound but will now receive just over 22p.
That improved outlook is thought to be a result of a recovery in stock markets and rising property values.
The first dividend will be paid next week on September 4 and offers some relief to the thousands of depositors who are waiting for the return of their savings.
Payments under the Manx government's Depositors' Compensation Scheme will also be made next month.
Treasury Minister Allan Bell says the news from the liquidator is a significant milestone.
