Island 'well placed' to meet competition

by isleofman.com 24th August 2009

The Isle of Man is well placed to meet competition from other offshore jurisdictions joining the OECD whitelist.

So says Treasury Minister Allan Bell, after news the Cayman and British Virgin Islands have signed enough tax exchange agreements to join the list of co-operative jurisdictions.

As the whitelist 'club' becomes less exlcusive, Mr Bell predicts the G20 meeting next month will see the bar raised again.

But he says while competition for offshore business is getting tougher, the Isle of Man can be optimistic.

He's confident we will score highly in a planned 'peer review' of the offshores.
