More funding woes for Hyperbaric Chamber?

by isleofman.com 23rd August 2009

Cash from central government may be needed to avert closure of the Island's hyperbaric chamber.

That's the view of hyperbaricist David Downie, as the chamber runs into its latest funding crisis.

DHSS funding falls ?30,000 short of the chamber's annual running costs.

Earlier this year, millionaire Trevor Hemmings stepped in to avert closure, with a cheque for almost ?9,000 and further cash promised over the coming months.

But that has proved a stop-gap and Mr Downie says the chamber needs long-term funding to continue in the future.

He says it's a vital facility for the Isle of Man.
