Firms urged to take swine flu precautions

by isleofman.com 21st August 2009

A Douglas-based doctor is urging firms to vaccinate their workforces against seasonal flu this winter in a bid to prevent key staff being off.

Dr Simon McAndry says not only can the virus reduce productivity because of absences, it can also affect people for up to two weeks after the initial symptoms have appeared, meaning they don't perform to their usual levels when they return to work.

He says the jabs are safe and have a high protection rate.
