King William's College pupils are celebrating another year of success in the International Baccalaureate.
Sixty-two pupils in the Upper Sixth Form — a record number of candidates — took the examinations in May.
One hundred percent of pupils have achieved full certification, with 60 being awarded the Diploma.
The average score achieved by College pupils was 34 points (out of a possible 45), which is equivalent in terms of the UCAS tariff to ‘AAB’ at A2, and four ‘A’ grades at AS Level.
Over a third gained 36 points and above, achieving the equivalent of three ‘A’ grades at A2 and two ‘A’ grades at AS Level.
Ten pupils achieved an impressive 40 points or more.
Pupils will now go on to a range of UK and international universities in order to further their studies.
Pierre Novellie has secured a place at the prestigious Corpus Christi College, Cambridge to study Anglo Saxon, Norse and Celtic.
Pierre, who is 18 and from Port Soderick, scored 40 points. He studied English, History and Visual Arts at Higher Level and French, Design Technology and Mathematics at Standard Level, as well as completing the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge compulsory elements.
Heading for cambridge to study Anglo Saxon, Norse and Celtic is JOanna Shimmin, who has accepted a place at the university's Trinity Hall college.
As a speaker of Manx Gaelic, Joannn has already established her credentials as a linguist!
Last year’s Head of School, Helen Bates, achieved 40 points.
She will go on to Birmingham University to study medicine, and would like to specialise in Heptology and Sports Medicine; Alexandra Ferrier will go to Durham University to study Combined Social Sciences, specialising in History, Economics and Politics. She achieved 41 points.
Principal of King William’s College, Dr Sarah Welch, comments, "I am delighted that the pupils' hard work has been rewarded with such excellent results.
"Their achievement in the IB has secured them places on top UK and international university courses, and will continue to open doors for them in the future.
“To be able to reach such a high standard across a broad range of subjects shows just what talented and hard working young people they are. Everyone at King William’s College congratulates them and wishes them continued success for the future."
