Crossag inquiry to resume

by isleofman.com 20th August 2009

An inquiry into failed plans for a ?40 million development in Ballasalla - which would have significantly increased its population – will resume next month.

The Tynwald Select Committee hearing evidence about proposals for Crossag Farm comprises MHKs Brenda Cannell, Graham Cregeen and MLC David Callister.

The plans for more than 250 homes were turned down because it was thought there was a shortage of infrastructure such as drainage, schools and roads which would be needed by new residents.

The select committee was formed after it was discovered Government subsequently agreed to buy back the land from the developer.

On September the first, it will hear from the Department of Local Government’s director of estates and housing Richard Senior and Felicity Kniveton from the Attorney General’s Chambers.
