'Bad feeling' led to court appearance

by isleofman.com 17th August 2009

A 33 year-old man has been fined ?250 for shouting at and verbally abusing another man.

Christopher Marc Overs, of Luthwaites Way in Port St Mary, admitted using threatening and insulting behaviour towards Robert Karran.

The court heard there was bad feeling between the two men.

At 9am on May 28, the defendant was driving in Station Road, Port Erin when he saw Mr Karran and shouted abuse at him. The incident was reported to the police.

Overs' advocate said Mr Karran had shouted at and threatened his client, which could well have annoyed him.

He said Overs had recently had the tyres slashed on his car which was being investigated by police.

The court heard officers spoke to Mr Karran about the incident, but he denied he was responsible.

The deputy high Bailiff warned Overs not to take matters into his own hands, and leave such things to the police.
