Iconic Images of Mann Sought for Competition

by isleofman.com 14th August 2009

Entries are now being accepted for the annual Isle of Man Department of Tourism and Leisure Photo Competition - but hurry, as the closing date for entries is midday on Friday 28th August.

The competition, which is sponsored by Nationwide International Limited, gives talented snappers the chance to win over ?3,000 in prize money.

Entrants can submit photographs in one or any of nine themed categories. Prizes will be awarded to the winner of each category and there will also be an 'overall winner' prize for the photograph judged to be the most outstanding of the competition.

The competition was last held in 2007, when the overall winner was Graham Cooke.

The Department hopes that winning entries will help promote the Isle of Man in the future.

Director of Tourism Geoff Le Page, explains, "We are looking forward to viewing the entries in our photo competition.

"It’s a way for us to acquire pictures which give us a new perspective on the Island.

"We have always been spoilt for choice and many of the winning pictures have been used in our marketing campaign and on our website."

Tourism Minister Martyn Quayle MHK will head the judging panel, helped by Phil Dunne, Managing Director of Nationwide.
