Age Concern Isle of Man joined forces with Manx Telecom at last weekend's Royal Show in Sulby, to raise awareness of the services and opportunities they provide.
The charity, which operates five Lifelong Learning Centres promoting digital inclusion for the over-50s, shared space in Manx Telecom’s exhibition tent for the two-day event, during which visitors were invited to pay £1 to guess the name of a Loaghtan ram to win a Samsung Rugged mobile phone.
Computer Lifelong Learning Centre manager Mike Justice said, "The Royal Manx was a great success for us.
"We raised awareness about our centres, the opportunities we offer older people to learn more about computers - Skype, word processing, desktop publishing and social networking, for example - and also informed people about the range of services Age Concern provides.
"We also raised around £200, attracted new clients to our centres and recruited a new volunteer.
"We’re especially grateful to Manx Telecom for providing us space in their exhibition tent and volunteers to help us…and, of course, for the sheep. We’ll be announcing the name of the winner - and of the sheep - very soon."
