UK Tamiflu report - Dr Kishore urges caution

There are fears the antiviral drug Tamiflu is doing more harm than good to children suffering from swine flu.

A report in the British Medical Journal says doctors shouldn't give it to youngsters under the age of twelve, because of nasty side effects such as vomiting.

The Isle of Man's Director of Public Health Dr Parameswaran Kishore is urging caution, and says the findings in the report relate to cases where seasonal flu, rather than swine flu, was treated with the drug.

He is also repeating the point that Tamiflu has never been a cure for swine flu and, at best, will reduce the duration of the illness in children by up to a day and a half:
