Lifeboat tows stricken vessel to safety

by isleofman.com 7th August 2009

A small motor vessel was saved from crashing onto rocks off Santon Head today.

A major rescue operation was launched after the boat suffered engine failure, caused by fuel contamination problems.

Douglas lifeboat, the town's coastguard rescue team and a rescue helicopter from RAF Valley in Angelsey were sent to the incident.

The lifeboat attached a line and towed the vessel to safety, arriving in Douglas harbour at about 1pm.

The two people on board were landed safe and well.
