Coastguards standby to help jet skiers

by isleofman.com 6th August 2009

A pair of jet skiers raising cash for charity got into trouble when their navigation equipment failed in the Irish Sea.

Colin Gregg and Dougie Ward from Orkney are taking part in a charity jet ski around the British Isles.

But last night their GPS equipment failed as they travelled to the Island from Wales, and they had to ask directions from a yacht.

The duo alerted Douglas coastguard, which put a unit on standby to help the men.

However, they made it to Douglas harbour unaided.

The pair, who have raised more than ?15,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, were refuelling in the Island before heading for Stranraer.
