July was wet and windy, but still warm, particularly at night.

The Isle of Man Met Office has just released its figures for last month.

The settled and often hot weather of June came to an end within the first week of July, then low pressure systems dominated the weather throughout the month.

It was on average the windiest July for eleven years, and the fourth windiest on record.

There were only six completely dry days, with almost 50% more rain than the long-term average.

Daytime maximum temperatures were close to what you would expect, but it was warmer than usual at night.

The hottest day was the second, when 24.1 degrees celsius was recorded at Ronaldsway, and it never dropped below eleven degrees there all month.

It was sunnier than normal but the high humidity, coupled with high temperatures, produced some thunderstorms in the east and north of the Island.
