'Champions' to work with minority groups

by isleofman.com 3rd August 2009

Police in the Isle of Man are promising they are 100 per cent commited to engaging with minority groups.

Following last week's initial contact at an open forum, another meeting will be arranged at which comments made by the 25 people who attended will be discussed.

Deputy Chief Constable Gary Roberts says there is still an awful lot of work to do, but nobody should doubt the Constabulary's determination to form good relations with every section of the community (play audio file):

Police are now planning another meeting, at which the comments made at the first gathering will be discussed.

A group of 'Champions', as they are being termed, will then be appointed within the Constabulary, to liaise with the various groups, and take the project to the next level.
