Charity fields calls from angry pensioners

The chief executive of Age Concern Isle of Man says the organisation has been inundated with calls from angry and confused senior citizens over the past couple of days.

Penny Creighton says pensioners in the Island were deeply unhappy about the Department of Tourism and Leisure's plans to further reduce the times they could get free travel using their bus passes.

On Friday, the DTL reversed the decision to prevent free journeys between 3.30 and 5.30pm on weekdays, saying it would review the situation no earlier than October.

Mrs Creighton says travelling at that time of day is popular with the Island's senior citizens:
