An Isle of Man Transport worker is slamming his bosses' decision to extend the period during which pensioners are charged to ride on the buses, calling it 'grossly unfair' and 'incompetent'.
The employee, who is going by the assumed name 'Fred', says bus drivers are up in arms after signs telling them and the public of the change appeared on their vehicles on Tuesday, with no prior warning or explanation.
Senior citizens will now be charged between 3.30pm and 5.30pm, in addition to the times they have to pay in the morning.
'Fred', whose voice has been changed in this clip to protect his identity, says the drivers are livid as they aren't able to tell people why the policy has changed.
He says they want answers (play audio file):
Manx Radio has tried to contact Director of Public Transport Ian Longworth for a response.
He wasn't available yesterday but we expect to hear from him later today.
