Pension proposals affecting recruitment - claim

by isleofman.com 30th July 2009

Medical staff are warning proposed changes to pensions are already affecting recruitment in the Island’s Health Service.

The British Medical Association and the Royal College of Nursing say they still haven’t been properly consulted over the government’s suggestions about changing public sector pensions.

And they say the planned changes contained in the Hymans Robertson report are already discouraging people from joining the health service and creating uncertainty among existing staff.

The BMA’s Dr Bob Fayle says he knows of strong feelings among senior medical staff (play audio file):

A public consultation on the proposed changes is due to end tomorrow.
