Disappointment over closure of home care service

The DHSS says it's very disappointed the Manx Foundation for the Physically Disabled has been forced to close down its home care service, with the loss of eight jobs.

The closure will take effect on August 23 and the 20 or 30 people affected by the decision are currently being assessed, against the 'eligibility criteria' for government funded services.

Assistant Director with responsibility for Adults Tony Lever says the foundation is an important partner to the DHSS, and while the government department doesn't fund the charity, it does provide assistance through various grants.

He says in terms of maintaining the service to those affected, each case will be dealt with in accordance with their individual needs:
