Manannan boosts traffic on Liverpool route

by isleofman.com 29th July 2009

Latest figures from the Department of Transport show a slight rise in foot passengers, but a slight drop in vehicles travelling through Douglas.

The DoT says 6,600 more people have used ferries this year compared to the first six months of 2008, but there were 1,200 fewer vehicles over the same period.

Director of Harbours Captain Michael Brew says the June figures take into account the late TT, and routes to Heysham, Liverpool and Belfast were all well up on the June 2008 totals.

Captain Brew also says the introduction of the Steam Packet's new fast craft Manannan has contributed to the growth seen on the Liverpool route.
