Eastern Airways routes are 'under review'

by isleofman.com 29th July 2009

Talks are taking place after Eastern Airways announced it's to hold a review of services and pull its crews and planes from the Isle of Man.

The company hasn't said whether it intends to stop running the routes from Ronaldsway to Aberdeen, Newcastle and Birmingham, but no online bookings are being taken past August 27.

Staff in the Isle of Man have also been told they may lose their jobs.

Although nobody from Eastern Airways is willing to be interviewed about the changes yet, in a statement the firm says: "With the current tough economic trading conditions, we have taken a review of our network and costs and, as a result of this, will be closing the Isle of Man crew base.

"Our Isle of Man routes are currently under review as we are looking at the schedules and timings to operate services from the other end of route."
