Swine flu precautions - advice repeated

Health chiefs in the Isle of Man are stepping up their campaign to make sure the public is kept informed of developments in relation to the spread of swine flu.

They say don't go to the Accident and Emergency department at Noble's Hsopital if you have symptoms, contact your GP by phone rather than calling in at the surgery and follow basic hygiene precautions such as washing hands thoroughly.

A new government strategic plan outlines how emergency medical care, transport links and the Island's communications network would be maintained in a worst case scenario.

Director of Public Health Doctor Parameswaran Kishore says basic precautions will slow down the spread of the virus:
