IOM training course bears fruit

by isleofman.com 28th July 2009

The first group of locally trained primary school teachers in the Isle of Man have received praise from tutors and examiners.

The year-long course is run by the Isle of Man College and offers a full professional qualification.

Until it became available, trainee teachers had to travel to the United Kingdom, which effectively disqualified Manx residents who had family and other commitments.

The University of Chester's Awards Assessment Board has confirmed that eleven trainees have obtained the full qualification of Professional Graduate Certificate in Education, with Manx Qualified Teacher status. One has gained a Graduate Certificate in Education.
