Pupils from Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey have won the Isle of Man Children Centre's Pennies on the Playground Challenge.
The Challenge - to lay the longest possible line of coins in the playground - was undertaken by eight of the Island's schools.
The youngsters of Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey surpassed themselves by creating a line of spare change no less than 325 metres in length - more than the size of three football pitches!
Whilst all the participating schools received a well-earned certificate signed by the Hon Mrs Anne Craine MHK, it was Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey that secured the trophy for the sheer scale of their collection.
'The youngsters had a whale of time laying all the coins. It was a fantastic effort,' said Head Teacher Geoff Moorcroft, pictured front right.
'I’d like to extend a huge vote of thanks to all the parents and staff who supported this challenge and helped make Pennies on the Playground such a success for the Children’s Centre'.
The IOMCC’s Fundraising Coordinator Michelle O’Malley, pictured handing over the trophy, added, 'We are so grateful to Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey.
'The pupils have made a massive contribution to the overall event. They were so enthusiastic. And well done to all the schools that contributed to make the event so memorable.'
The coins collected from Pennies on the Playground were later laid along the entire one and a half mile length of Douglas Promenade from Summerland to the Sea Terminal.
Proceeds from Pennies on the Playground will go towards the IOMCC’s Out2play scheme, which the IOMCC runs during school holidays and benefits up to 2000 five to eleven year old youngsters every year.
