'Hold onto your keys' say police

Ramsey residents are being warned not to let their keys be picked up by the police over the next few weeks.

As part of 'Operation Keysnatch', officers from the Northern Neighbourhood team will be on the lookout for cars which have been left unsecured with keys in the ignition.

The aim is to clamp down on the number of vehicles taken without the owners consent, or 'twocked'.

Anyone whose keys are taken will find them posted through their letterbox along with a warning about the dangers of complacency.

Sergeant Mark Newey says the consequences of disregarding basic security measures could potentially be very serious:
